The Accounting Examination Preparation Lectures will take place on the 15th of October 2011 in the Casey Plaza Theatre at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), Bowen St Melbourne. The presenters are Vicki Baron and Adrian Peacock,  both experienced Accounting examination assessors who are perfectly positioned to provide students with the best possible examination preparation. 

Vicki Baron (B.Bus, Dip Ed) has been the Assistant Chief Assessor in Accounting for 15 years and is currently Head of Commerce at Haileybury College. She has taught senior Accounting for over 20 years, has been a panel writer of Accounting Study Designs since 2000 and has provided professional development to teachers for 15 years via the VCTA. Vicki is also the author of a number of publications and podcasts, including the CPAP Study Guide to VCE Accounting (2nd edition). She is a reviewer of Insight VCE Accounting Guides, has written numerous trial examinations and has over 13 years experience providing student lectures on exam preparation.  Over the course of her teaching, Vicki has assisted over 20 students attain Premiers Awards in Accounting.


Adrian Peacock has a Bachelor of Business (Accountancy) from RMIT, a Diploma of Business (Banking and Finance), a Graduate Diploma of Chartered Accounting and a Dip Ed (ACU). He worked as a Chartered Accountant for a number of years before entering the teaching profession and has become an experienced assessor of end of year examinations, writer of trial exams, and reviewer/presenter for other organisations. Adrian has quickly earned the respect of his peers and has a unique ability to engage students. He currently teaches VCE Accounting at Fintona Girls’ School, Balwyn, and teaches Enhancement Accounting for Monash University.

All CPAP Exam preparation lectures include advice on areas to focus, clarification of common errors made by past students, tips on how to allocate your precious time, strategies to assist you to interpret questions and structure responses, an analysis of the most difficult questions and terms from past exams and an analysis of possible questions in light of recent international developments.  You will also be provided with comprehensive notes to take home!
 

Session 1 (Extension of recording and reporting) - 1.10pm - 2.35pm


The first session will be presented by Vicki Baron and will comprise a summary of the key areas to focus on in terms of the extension of recording and reporting financial data and information.  She will use her years of experience as Assistant Chief Assessor to help you prepare for the examination and develop or structure your responses in a way that helps you to perform at your peak and impress the examination assessors.  

 
Session 2 (Financial planning and decision making) - 2.45pm-4.10pm

The second session will be presented by Adrian Peacock and will comprise a summary of the key areas to focus on in terms of the financial planning and decision making of small businesses.  He will also use his years of experience as Chief Assessor to help you prepare for the examination and develop or structure your responses in a way that helps you to perform at your peak and impress the examination assessors.


Session 3:  Question and Answer Session - 4.15pm- 4.45pm

Vicki and/or Adrian will host a 30 minute question and answer session.  Questions asked by students typically relate to important points that require further clarification or to issues that remain unresolved from classes or texts.  Whilst students are free to leave at the end of session 2, past students of CPAP lectures suggest that this session is not to be missed!
